0-01Flint Clicky

Overview

Flint is the heavy clicky: a stiffer click bar and a 70 gf peak produce a sharp, high-pitched snap that you feel as much as you hear. A 22 mm spring that finishes at 68 gf sends the key back up quickly, so fast typing stays crisp.

A smoked translucent top over a black base lets the orange stem glow warm under RGB. Like Spark, it ships dry so the click stays sharp. Choose Flint over Spark if you press hard or want more resistance before each click.

  • 70 gf click peak
  • Sharper, heavier click than Spark
  • Smoked top, orange stem
  • Strong, fast return

Force curve

How hard the key pushes back at every depth of the press, drawn through its measured actuation, peak and bottom-out forces. The dashed line is the way back up.

Force curve · Flint Clicky

Flint Clicky force curve. The key starts at 42 gf, builds up to a 70 gf click at 1.6 mm and snaps through. It registers at 2.0 mm with 55 gf and bottoms out at 4.0 mm with 68 gf. On the way up the force typically runs about 4 gf lower and the click is barely felt.

Anatomy(4)

Four parts, each in its own plastic and colour. The materials decide much of the sound.

  1. 0-01top housing

    PolycarbonateClear

Rigid, with a brighter, sharper sound. Clear, so RGB lights the whole switch. Closes the switch and guides the stem; shapes the sound of the upstroke.

  2. 0-02stem

    POM

Self-lubricating: the smoothest stroke and a soft, creamy sound. The moving part. Its cross holds the keycap; its legs snap the click bar on the way down.

  3. 0-03spring

    22 mm single-stage spring

Sets the weight: how hard the key pushes back at the top and at the bottom of the stroke.

  4. 0-04bottom housing

    Polycarbonate

Rigid, with a brighter, sharper sound. Holds the metal contacts and pins; shapes the sound of the bottom-out.

Clicky. An audible click at the actuation point — the loudest.

Clicky switches

A bump plus an audible click right before the key registers.

Feel
A snappy, well-defined bump. The click lands at the same point on every press, so you hear each keystroke go through.
Sound
Loud and high-pitched — satisfying on your own, obvious to everyone else in the room and on an open microphone.

Good for

  • Typists who love feedback
  • A board used on its own
  • Learning a lighter touch: the click tells you when you can stop

Think twice if: You share a room, stream or take calls with an open mic, or type at night.

Keyboards it fits(2)

Any MX-style hot-swap keyboard takes these — no soldering. They do not work in magnetic (HE) keyboards.
Hot-swap
Sockets that let you pull and insert switches without soldering. Strata 75 and Flux TKL have MX-style hot-swap sockets; Halo 65 HE has magnetic (HE) hot-swap sockets — each takes only its own kind of switch.
3-pin vs 5-pin
5-pin switches have two extra thin plastic legs that steady them in boards without a plate. Hot-swap boards with 5-pin holes take both kinds; for a 3-pin-only board, clip the two plastic legs off with flush cutters — never the metal pins.

Questions(8)

Still unsure? Write to [email protected] — we reply within one business day.

They fit any hot-swap keyboard with MX-style sockets, including our Strata 75, Flux TKL and Atelier builds. They have 5 pins, and our boards take them as they are. If your board only takes 3-pin switches, clip the two thin plastic side legs flush with a pair of flush cutters — never the metal pins. They do not work in magnetic (HE) keyboards, and a board without hot-swap sockets needs soldering to change switches.
