Overview
The Ember Split design from our Atelier as a pre-cut vinyl skin for your mouse. Signal red and white split across the shell, crossed by a black-and-white checker band, printed on thin cast vinyl under a matte, scratch-resistant laminate — so the finish reads as part of the shell rather than a sticker on it.
Air-release channels in the adhesive let bubbles escape as you smooth it down, and cast vinyl follows the curves of the shell once warmed. The main-button pieces stop at the button split, so clicks feel exactly as before, and the whole skin peels off cleanly when you want the stock shell back.

Applying a skin(5)
About 15 minutes, start to finish.
Clean the shell
Wipe the top shell and both main buttons with the alcohol prep pad and let them dry. Any dust left under the vinyl shows as a bump.
Find the anchor edge
Hold each piece against the shell with the backing on. The edge along the scroll-wheel slot is your anchor: it is cut to line up with it.
Lay it down from the anchor
Peel back part of the backing, set the anchor edge and work outwards with the squeegee card, a little at a time. The air-release channels let bubbles out under the card, so there is no need to lift the vinyl.
Warm it round the curves
Where the shell curves, warm the vinyl for a few seconds on a low setting and press it into shape with your thumb. Don’t stretch it cold — stretched vinyl pulls back and lifts.
Seal and check
Warm the edges once more and press them down. Check that the split between the main buttons is clear, so each button clicks on its own.
TipGive the adhesive a day to bond before heavy use.
